Glendale Coin Club 1999 Holiday Party Photos
Please be patient while the pictures load...
Hey, we have a lot of fun at our coin club meetings! As documented legal
evidence of this (presentable in any court in the land) we include the following
photos from our December 1999 meeting. Meet our members, and see what fun we had
at our Holiday Party! It was a hoot...perhaps you can join our ranks and party
with us at the Year 2000 Holiday Party.
This is Viesturs Zagars (a life member)
working diligently on a candle-driven carousel that Mary Yahalom brought
to the Holiday Party. Dorsille Fritcher is trying to glide by
unobtrusively on the right. |

The enchanting results of Viesturs efforts. |
These are the party platters we brought in
from Billy's Delicatessen (located in Glendale). Lillian Kane had
the idea to use them a few years back, and it was such a hit it seems to
have become a Glendale Coin Club tradition. Appreciate them here in their
pristine glory, because it didn't last long. |

The three wise men (from left to right): Bob Vick, Tom
Redmond, and Viesturs Zagars. Here, they're lending their sage solemnity
to some serious situation (who said alliteration is dead?). Just kidding,
they're plotting to be first in line at the Holiday buffet... |
...And the rush is on! The poor party platters
didn't stand much of a chance against the onrush of this crowd. We had
meat and cheese trays, wonderful egg bread, condiments, relish trays,
potato and slaw salads, sparkling cider (donated by member Harry Reder),
sweet breads, candy, and so on and so on. I put on at least three pounds
that night. |

Here, one corner of coin club members enjoys some fellowship
and good eats; from left to right: Joyce Allen, Kamar Husain, Earl and
Dorsille Fritcher, and Lisa Koerner. |
Mary and Jerry Yahalom were our gamemasters
for the evening. Here, Mary is working the coin club's Coin-O machine (an
old bingo setup), while Jerry tracks the numbers and looks befuddled (just
kidding, Jerry). |

|
Coin Club beauties Kimberly Klein (daughter) and Denise
Ballard (mother) seem to be enjoying themselves while playing Coin-O.
These two were among the luckiest of the evening: Kimberly won the grand
door prize (see below) and Denise split the grand Coin-O prize (also see
below). |

He managed to win one of the Coin-O prizes, a US Silver Eagle. |

Tom Redmond and Denise Ballard split the grand Coin-O prize
(we played a total of five games, the last one was a 50/50 split with the
house for the revenues the game generated). I think they each came out
with about $10. Not bad for simply yelling, "Coin-O". |
Kimberly proudly (and happily) holding up the
grand door prize for the evening, a 2 1/2 Peso Mexican gold coin. What a
grin (careful boys, she'll break your heart!). |
